A surgery is expected to be performed on Monday, disclosed General Manager, Opoku Nti who confirmed the sad news to Asantekotokosc.com.
“It’s a difficult thing when you are competing for honours in a league like ours. All the other clubs are good and you need to do extra work to overrun them. So we would have a lot to fight for this season because we want titles” he said.
“I think the wait is enough and the season should start now. It took us a lot to get to this level and it would be a huge disappointment if the date is postponed again”.
In a statement signed by Communications Manager, Kwaku Ahenkorah, management extended Kotoko’s best wishes to Ashgold saying that, they meritoriously earned their right to represent Ghana in Africa and must accordingly excel.
The Porcupine Warriors will go into the new football season with 29 players which include four goalies – Felix Annan, Eric Ofori Antwi, Ernest Sowah and young chap Yuisu Kaisan.
“We have done enough preparation and we are only waiting for February 20 to begin our mission for the league title” he said.
Coach David Duncan told Asantekotokosc.com that, he has been doing measured preparation in order not to overstretch his players and render them tired before the season kicks off.
In the view of Team Manager, Prince Adu Poku, the sharp growth which has taken place in the team is as a result of the thorough groundwork they have undertaken in the last three months.
