Asante Kotoko will seek to bring Bechem United down to earth when the Baba Yara Stadium hosts the Special Competition match day ten clash today.
The two sides meet again for the second time in the Normalisation Committee’s competition on Wednesday afternoon, barely two weeks after the Porcupines fed on Abdul Fatawu’s equaliser to draw 1-1 in the reverse fixture at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
Charles Kwablan Akonnor’s Asante Kotoko will still miss the services of strikers Songne Yacouba and Dany Zabo, who are yet to recover fully from the ankle and shoulder injuries.
Midfielders, Stephen Nyarko and Collins Ameyaw, made the starting-XI and were also phenomenal in the last fixture, but may not take to the field in today’s 3 pm kick-off game as they are also yet to recover fully from injuries.
However, C. K. Akonnor can still call on Abdul Fatawu, who tops the Goal King chart in Zone A with six goals, in his squad as his opposite number, Nana Kwasi Dalyn comes at him with key players Seth Sowah and Akwasi Agbesima.
Asante Kotoko sit in second place with 14 points from seven games and are two points shy of leaders, Medeama SC, who have 16 points from eight games.
Bechem United, on the other hand, lie sixth on the seven-team log with seven points from eight outings as they make their fourth away trip of the campaign.
The Porcupines have had an impeccable run in the championship, and particularly at home where they have won all three games against Aduana Stars, Ashgold and Berekum Chelsea.
Aside from drawing one and losing four of their last five visits to the Baba Yara Stadium, the Bechem lads were also beaten in their last clash with Asante Kotoko in Cape Coast.
Deeming their chances of survival, even more, is their unimpressive away record that has seen them record a draw and two losses in three outings.
The highly anticipated clash is expected to be watched by a good turnout at Baba Yara, and fans are assured of a scintillating display from the two sides, especially the hosts.
